Dear family and special prayer partners

Here are 2 special stories from the Philippines  (January 2, 2009)

BLOG site Jenny’s Bibles is now updated with stories all the way back to 2006. Sorry it took so long. Now all the stories are there. You can find a few recent pictures. You can click on the link below and read what has been missed.

2 NEW STORIES: RE: Philippines: Villa Pagasa, Mindoro

1. Title: Smiling man with a crutch

 2. Title: God’s Miracle of Snow Storm Delay

I noticed his attention to detail as I presented subjects on the candlestick and Pentecost. His interest was growing. I made it a point to greet him at the door, as he went home with a group from Bonabon. He made it to the front when there was an opportunity to give his heart 100 percent to Jesus. He was studying many different faiths for the right one for him. He had questions and did not have a Bible to discover if what he had learned was true.

Then he missed a night. We prayed for him. We asked his friends and told them we were praying. He came the next night. When asked if we were to number him among those planning to be baptized, he said he was asking for a dream to be sure it was the right thing.

I knew I was going to see him at the baptism. His leg was short and curled about the crutch as if it was that way since birth. I did not ask. He was really smiling with such joy as he walked across the river to the middle gravel and sand bar where the rest were gathered. A total of 30 with their sponsors were lined up.
We had his Bible ready. He told me he dreamed he saw a bowl with dirty water in a dream and all that he saw made him believe that he needed to get clean in baptism. He needed washed from sins. His friends were helping him to follow up on his understanding of fundamental beliefs.

It is victories as these that bring such joy to us. We can hardly describe the joy we have. All the weariness of the journey is worth it. The angels join in that making music in heaven. God promised to be at the baptism. He is at all of them. I saw the pillar of cloud above the group gathering. It was a special day for us. Each received Bibles. There were 18 left which we gave to the pastor for future baptisms.

We will get more when we go to the Pinyamalayan church in 6 months for the next program in the Philippines.

SNOW MIRACLE: While preparing for this Philippines journey, it was predicted that by 1pm there would be a blizzard and 11 inches of snow dropped on Spokane. I asked the Lord, if it did not matter to Him, that He could wait till I ran the needed errands, did banking, got last minute things for the journey and flew out of Spokane. He waited! He stopped the quantity of snow till after we left. When returned we discovered that roofs had caved in under the heavy snow load in Spokane. I was sorry for their misfortune. I prayed that God would strengthen my roof. It is in tact. The dog also survived it all alone here with his continual food supply provided by Ron.  Instead of 11 inches there was about 2 inches when we flew out. Airports were open but later after we left, during the storms, airports were closed. God showed us many times that He was intent on getting us to Villa Pagasa to get the work done.

He even had a kind paramedic at the hospital  Mr. Dudong take us to the airport at the end of our services. He did it free as his part of the mission project.

Arnold Augustine picked us up and also helped us with transport finding things needed the last day. God will will bless these men for their part in God’s mission work.

More stories will follow as I get the time. Tomorrow I am pleased that my sons and husband are planning to join us for some family time over the weekend.

There are so many unreached people groups. I am praying God will direct the work in these last days. I am thankful to be a part of it. Thank you for support and for prayers.

Sincerely,

Your fellow co laborer in a small corner of the Master’s huge vineyard,

Dr. Rose

From Street to Elite with Jesus-January 1 2009

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family

 Thursday, January 1 2009

Dear friends and special prayer partners,

NAME OF STORY: From Street to Elite with Jesus

RE: PHILIPPINES  Missionary Training

God has done great things for us during the short time of December school break time.

FAST TAKE:

In the Villa Pagasa church, on the island of Mindoro , in the Philippines , we just completed a successful 10 day effort. That effort involved evangelistic meetings plus a daily 3 hour curriculum of classes training for mission service. The missionary to be trained was 8 year old Natalie, the little girl who gave her heart to Jesus in Jenny’s evangelism meetings in the Medical Center and Sanitarium in Manilla. Natalie was placed in school at AUPE after Jenny collected funds and prayed for her studies. Now Natalie can read and write in English so we can communicate enough to train her. She has studied 2 years at AUPE. She has difficulty in singing on tune, so we did what my brother’s wife, Elana suggested in asking her to make the same note we were singing. It took hours of patient work and it seems progress was made. We took her through Blalock’s voice training CD.

DETAILS:

Our goals in training Natalie in mission service were met. We had daily music classes in voice support and resonance. Daily the flute and harp lessons were given till she had 10 hours. Natalie is a good learner. She tried hard. Cooking classes were presented, as well as Bible story presentations.

Natalie really wants to learn to cook. She loved this part the most. She asked who taught me to cook. I told her that my mother did. My mind then remembered how her mother lives on the street. There is no kitchen, no home, no food. How can she learn such things except we are careful to teach her. Jenny was careful to teach her manners in eating so she can never be ashamed to eat with kings.

There were lessons on how to be an effective missionary. Many in the church wanted to join the classes so we hauled all the equipment to the church and projected things on the screen. During music voice training, we had the big speakers amplify the sounds they were to copy. Each day involved 3 hrs mission training.

In the afternoons we did free medical clinics. During this time we trained Natalie to use the digital blood pressure unit, and how to screen eyes. We saw about 160 people in clinic. Some walked 4 hours to get seen in clinic. Mountain people came. People came from villages we had treated in 2005. One man walked all the way from Bonabon. It took him 3 hours.

Natalie learned her lessons quickly. God was blessing as we prayed for this. You see, when you follow Jesus, He promises things will only get better. There is the text in Psalms 37:25 that “I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging for bread. So you see—She is going from Street to Elite with Jesus. May God keep her as she unlearns the lessons of the street and fills her mind with the ten commandments.   One home we visited had a little girl with no hands. She was born without them. Her feet had toes that were deformed. The grandpa in that home had swollen legs and feet and could not walk up the hill to clinic. I had him soak his feet in charcoal while he waited till the next day to be seen after clinic. He was surprised that his feet improved so much that he could walk. He was thrilled to get a pair of glasses so he could read his Bible. Such a simple thing can bring so much joy.

On Dec. 25, we chose to do the class in the home we stayed in so we could have a native cooking class on espasole. It is sticky rice and coconut fixed up in a delicious way. Each day we repeated the cooking class information from the days lessons before.

Natalie helped Jenny by holding the Bibles for Jenny to give at the baptism of 30 people. She did so many good things like sweeping the sanctuary, covering and uncovering the furniture, and lighting candles. The bad things learned on the street were dealt with and Natalie is trying to overcome them.

It is common to steal on the street to live. With that sin goes lying. The Bible promises in  Psalms 119: 9, wherewithal  shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”  So many that she is growing up with are lying and stealing and consider it the only way to live. Now we are telling her it is the way to be lost and kept out of heaven. (Rev. 21:8) God has given us the responsibility to show her the right way. He has asked us to take her on more mission training sessions.

That’s what happens when you take Jesus as your friend and follow His way. It always gets better. From the street with cardboard as your bed to walking with Jesus in saving souls you stop begging and stealing and start giving. As you give, things multiply in your hands and you do not run out. You stop lying and  instead, tell the truth that Jesus saves from sin. You go from street to elite.

Something to ponder: I wonder how many of the millions of economically hopeless and homeless could become evangelists and missionaries if just given a chance. Or if just trusting in Jesus to help it happen.

This was the first time we did missionary training sessions. It is amazing how people treated Natalie as an elegant little girl dressed in the new modest dresses Jenny gave to her.

We enjoyed doing the training sessions.  It was enjoyed so much, it seems good to continue this training in other locations. We will do more on each mission from here on. Doing the work is good but if while doing it, there is someone trained, it can result in thousands more being reached.

The trainee needs to be willing to receive all advice and follow it faithfully in order for this project to continue. Many are called (to mission service) but few choose to give all their talents and time and life to it. Though trained, it does not guarantee that the individual will serve. We pray these trained ones will give Jesus much service. She will be the 5th one  trained since a young age.

Gideon was a man in the Bible God called to stop the Mideonite invasions. There were 120,000 of the enemy and he started with 32,000 but God said it was too many. Those afraid and with new wives were sent home. Then there were 10,000. God said it was too many. They would next do a drink test. He was to send home all who lapped up the water like a dog. He was to keep those who kept eyes on the enemy and scooped water up in their hands ready for battle. This involves the same principal for missionaries. Our eyes must be on the work of rescuing souls from Satan’s grasp. We cannot play and go on vacation and pleasure hunts but keep eyes on the task. We can not run to the store to buy candy. Natalie had to learn that she kept her mind on the lessons presented and on what she could do to help. She could not be running about outside or going to the river during meetings. She had her own chair right up front at the edge of the platform where Jenny sits. She learned there is to be no talking or distracting audience. She had to always have hair combed and her nice dress on and welcome people.  At the time of altar call,  where they promise to give their lives to Jesus, she learned to  be quickly out there with pen and book of life to help people sign up.

Jesus promises “He that overcometh shall inherit all things.; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son/ (daughter) Rev. 21:7

Sincerely,

The miracle of missing travel documents in Korea December 31 2008

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family

 Wednesday, December 31 2008

Dear friends and special prayer partners,

We are in Korea. As we landed, we were in a deep sleep and stumbled out of the plane pushed along by the crowd. It seemed something was wrong. I had a strong impression to check out my travel documents. We had walked a long ways and the impression kept getting stronger. My passport bag hangs from my neck and it was open. I could see as I walked that the tiny wallet containing bank card and sky miles platinum elite card was not there.
I stopped and searched all bags and realized it must be on the plane. At the transit desk they offered no hope except to rush back to the door while it was open and search our seats on the plane. Accustomed to seeing guards at the door preventing any return to the plane, I felt it was impossible. I asked the transfer desk agent to escort me and or call to the control officer at the door. He laughed and said he did not know any cell phone numbers to call. It was impossible.
I prayed as I left Jenny and retraced the many steps back to the plane. I was surprised to find the door not guarded. I hurried to the plane. Some new flight attendants in another color were there surprised to see me. All of them were looking anxiously at me. Perhaps they were all wanting to help me. One rushed to me with the card wallet extended. I opened to make sure it was mine, and thanked them. Tears came to my eyes for joy as I realized the cell phone number of God was working better than anything else in the airport. Jeremiah 33:3 says, call on me in the day of trouble and I will answer and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not.
Just a few hours before, while doing email in Manilla, our friends Ed and Eloida Lachica were trying to fix some piece of equipment they use for amplifying their Bible stories and music on the streets. They have a slum watch ministry from which our contact was made with Natalie. Natalie is now doing well in learning English. She is clean and tidy. This amplifier was smoking and the shop said it was working fine. I offered to buy it from them due to short time before departing and he could get a new one for use on the streets. He agreed, so I went to find the 47 dollars. He touched it and said it was fun to touch green stuff from USA but the Holy Spirit had asked him to give it to me to use in AFRICA mission. I am sure it would be a great blessing in Shyira church. We do not yet have all funds needed for the building. They are still worshiping in the open. We want to make some more bread and sell it and more choir robes and as soon as we get another 850 for the church, we want to go to Africa and get that church done.
I am thinking God made that little machine cause concern so that I would learn about how handy it is. It is small and so powerful in broadcasting sound. It is much better than megaphone. It has its own wireless and another mic jack for the translator. I am surprised at how compact it is. I have used another one that was so large and not able to handle wireless and cost more. I had to give up transporting it on the plane for the troubles the airlines give now over carry on bags—plus the diminished number of missionaries I have going with me.
WOW!  Again God has kept His promise “MY God shall supply every need of yours according to His riches” Phil 4:19
He says He will sharpen our threshing instruments so we can bring down mountains. Is. 41
Our God is faithful to keep us supplied.
He is faithful to feed us.
  He always provides our transport.
He even blesses us with the things we “want”. Any tool that will increase our efficiency that is light weight, compact, and can be solar powered is precious to me. I wish for projector abilities off battery.
Sincerely,
Your fellow co-laborers in the Master’s Vineyard,
Dr. Rose

Philippines Update-December 29 2008

Monday, December 29 2008

Dear Family and friends and special prayer partners,
We are happy to tell you that the work in Mindoro went well. We have made the long trip off the island and just arrived in the home of friends who operate a slum watch ministry. We are able to do the email now and catch up on what is happening.
We have stories to tell as time permits. We had morning mission training sessions for Natalie and many others wanted to join. We ended up doing the voice lessons using the big speakers in the church and had about 30 participating. On Christmas day we were trying to do the session in the home we stayed in but it ended up being a disaster for they could not hear our little DVD player and all had a different note. It sounded like a bunch of barking dogs.
In clinic we treated 30 people or more every day for a week.
We plan to return to do the Pinyamalayan church. The sanctuary was left on the island. Perhaps it can be June that we return. The jeep operator kept raising the price thinking that we would pay anything just to catch our plane. It was just like the rising airline ticket prices. Funny thing, we planned at midnight with the pastor for him to take us to the ferry (3 hrs) and then go with us but God provided us a van for public use that cost only 1/3 of what we spent getting there. We were so thankful.
More stories will follow as we reach home.

Too Good to be True!Monday-December 8 2008

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family Monday, December 8 2008 Dear Friends and special Prayer partners,  Too Good to be TRUE 1. A HARP FOR JENNY IS ON ITS WAY! A DEAR FRIEND IS PROVIDING IT FOR MISSION SERVICE! 2. Medical exam tools: stethoscope and Bl pressure cuff were just received 3. We almost have enough to book and pay for airlines ticket (Mine is covered. Jenny is lacking about 400) 4. School Fees and Funds for Natalie and Jess are trickling in. 5. We have enough to get a few Bibles in Tagalog We have been praying for a harp for Jenny is taking lessons at Fountainview Academy. She is picking it up quickly and excited about the sounds on the nice pedal harp at the school. I also want to learn. It has been a lifelong dream. I have a nice harp needing a couple strings. It is too large for airplane travel. I have prayed for a harp that she can take on the plane on trips to Africa and Philippines and all the appointments from here on. I know the harp size needed for the overhead luggage spaces is very small. I have a dear friend, the daughter of a pastor we once had in Oregon. (Bob Letcher) I had tried to reach Sharon 3 weeks ago by the email I had been given on a magnet I had stuck on the fridge. There was no response. Then I noticed the address of Elder Bob Letcher. I figured I could just call them and find current contact info and find Sharon who composes music, sings, and teaches harp lessons. While thinking these things over the past days, I was impressed this morning to stop what I was doing and call. I argued, wanting to finish the Bible story DVD I am making for training our little missionary. The impression became so strong. I argued till there was such a distraction I had to stop what I was doing and make the call. After I identified to them who I was and gave them my last name (SAMPLE) they remembered me and my family. Then, Sharon called them. She had much to do and was not intending to call them except wondered about some weather prediction which would affect her work plans for today. This made our connection possible for she is very difficult to get a hold of. I now have phone and email contact info and she has mine. It was a Divine appointment. She has been studying Revelation and is making a study game that will help people desire to study it more. She offered to give me a harp the size we are looking for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When she discovered we were headed out in one week, she said she would mail it tomorrow. She wants to help in any way possible for this mission and future ones. She had just exactly what we have been praying for, for several months. IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. HARPS are not cheap instruments. Jenny is learning on a large, elegant, pedal harp which belongs to the school. Now she will have a small one that she can strap on and walk in procession as we illustrate heaven in the Feast of Tabernacles program of the sanctuary. She also can teach music lessons to her little missionary friend Natalie. WOW! It is too good to be true. We are short 300 of the final needs for flight tickets if we add in all the funds we have gathered for Natalie. God is working on that and Jenny is receiving some Canadian funds for her journey and for little girl Natalie and Jess that she rescued from living in streets of Manila and put in a school. This event is going to happen. We will make it to the Philippines to do the medical evangelism and musical (Harp, voice, and flute) and mission training (clinic skills) planned. No one can say we have done this thing. It is God’s work to get us outfitted and there. Yesterday I was given a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff and other much needed medical supplies. I can leave my suitcase of medical tools there and not pay so much air freight costs. I will be back to the Philippines for further training missions. I am now looking for a vision screening chart with the “tumbling E”. EXPECTED ITINERARY:If God provides today, the lacking funds, We plan to arrive in Manilla, Philippines next week on Wednesday. 17th of December about 1105pm We hope to have a place to overnight near the SDA Hospital and go south to the island the next morning. We could talk to Carla, the mom of Natalie and Jess to make sure permission is ok for taking the children to the island with us to train in a 10 day mission effort. We don’t mind sleeping on someone’s floor if need be. We hope to find a banana jeepnee to carry sanctuary to ferry and on to the village on the island of Mindoro. Sincerely, Your fellow co-laborer in the Master’s vineyard, Dr. Rose

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family

 Thursday, October 30 2008

Dear Family and Friends,

Dear Friends and family,
It is time for an update on the successful mission to Africa August 26-Oct 16. I am excited to tell you of the mighty power of God which I saw.
The church build is progressing in Shyira. They need bricks and sand. When out of funds, His work continued. When I was out of strength, He gave it to me. When I was out of health, He held me up to complete all assigned tasks. I praise His name. When I wished for Jenny’s help, He sent students who lifted bags, set up, and did so many kind things to help me.

FAST TAKE:
1. God’s Amazing provisions during economic crisis
2. 14 hr Kivu Lake Transport
3. Bukavu victories and terrors
4. God’s Tree shaking for lunch
5. Visa miracle
6. Changed Lives–86 decisions in Maranatha school
7. BIBLES MIRACLE
8. Miracles Homeward by Wheelchair.
9. HEALTH RETURNING

HEALTH RETURNING:
Thank you for praying for my health.
Within 24 hours after the request for prayers was sent out, there was a notable change in my strength. By Friday evening I was able to share a mission report for the students of Fountainview Academy. It was 10 hours drive by car and we just arrived in time to set up and give the evening worship program. I am still improving but so thankful I am able to breathe without such a struggle now. Thank all of you who were and are praying for my recovery. God has heard and is answering.

RECAP OF MISSION MIRACLES:
The most amazing thing on this mission was to see how God provided. As I left in August, many warnings were given to me of the impending economic crash which would begin during my mission trip. Knowing that God is not limited by our economic status, and knowing He wanted me to do this work of preaching the final warning, I moved in faith.
Last minute before departure I was blessed with help from my brother in getting the ticket from Nairobi, Kenya to Kigali, Rwanda. Tickets did not catch up with me by internet till I arrived in Seattle. Consequently I feared having to claim the luggage in Nairobi. I had to pay 400 dollars for my luggage weight on 3 bags. But in Seattle during the baggage retagging, a red tag titled “RUSH” was providentially attached which settled all questions as to final destination.
I had no funds for lodging while waiting 20 hours in Nairobi for my connecting flight. I found a spot near a sleeping mother and child in the business lounge and because of that baby, I was not chased out. I was safe there all night.
In Kigali, Rwanda I was so limited on travel funds, I elected to go by bus. Knowing that God is not limited by our economic status, and knowing He wanted me to do this work of preaching the final warning, I moved in faith.
Using church building funds, I took a pickup up the mountain with supplies for the new little church. Jenny’s bread baking money brought donations enough for tin, cement, a little sand, and transporting costs. The little children sang so beautifully in their choir robes we had made for them. The fund raising DVD for their church if now complete and ready for you to order. Proceeds from the DVD will get bricks for the church.
Miracle after miracle came my way as I finished helping the Rwanda church build project and headed for Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to do the evangelistic program in Bukavu. As I reached the border of DRC I had zero funds left.
Knowing that God is not limited by our economic status, and knowing He wanted me to do this work of preaching the final warning, I moved in faith.

GOMA AND KIVU LAKE TRANSPORT
I was met at the border by dear friends who housed me and gave me my favorite food. I preached in Goma for church and then waited for God to provide funds to get the big sanctuary set across the Kivu lake.
Johnson, a tall young man working in the UN, and also who helped translate Bible lessons for children into Swahili, donated 100 dollars to help God’s work move forward. Many helped me onto a big ship. Johnson instructed other passengers to look out for me and gave them his phone number and some air time for telephones. He stayed till it was time for the boat to move. He felt bad I was traveling alone. God was with me during the 14 hours. There were drunks shouting, and doing crazy things like throwing shoes.
Bukavu victories and terrors
Finally in Bukavu, I was met by mission president and treasurer and made very comfortable in their guest room. Soon the sanctuary was set up outside the front of the headquarters and meetings began. The second Sabbath we had a beautiful baptism and expected by the third Sabbath to see another. Sabbath a young man held up his Bible like an Olympic medal. He was so excited to be baptized and be following Jesus. Omar is still writing and asks for prayers for he is persecuted every Sabbath for not attending his school. He takes his Bible and shares hope and courage in hospitals. He dreams of being a missionary and preaching the gospel everywhere.

Suddenly a riot broke out around but not destroying the sanctuary. It was tribal issues. There was a big fire in front of the church and rocks flying through windows. Police and soldiers had to come and prevent it from getting to the point of any one losing their lives. The governor put a stop to the meetings for public safety. Fire fried the switch breaker box so there was nothing left for me to do but move out and onto the last appointment in the country of Burundi.

GOD SHOOK THE TREE FOR LUNCHES
God knew my journey was much longer than I anticipated. He sent a giant wind and shook the avocado tree just outside the door of the guest house. I had daily given a sticker to the little child who brought me a fallen avocado. On that day, I gave out many stickers and wondered what I would ever do with so many giant delicious avocados. I packed a bag with a knife and all those avocados. A student came quickly by bus from Kigali to meet me at the border to travel with the sanctuary and help me all the way through Rwanda to Burundi from DRC. I was so thankful for Steven’s help. We ate avocados and thanked God for food for 3 days. I was still eating these as I entered Burundi. Soldiers blocked our progress with a rifle raised in our faces so we turned back for lodging in the first little village of Burundi. God had us lodge with some very kind Christians working for food for the hungry. They shared their home, food and friendship.
VISA MIRACLE
Upon reaching the border, I was given only 3 days for 20 more dollars. I had paid for visa but the embassy made a mistake in placing April 25 instead of September 25 on the documents and refused to fix their mistake. The 3 day visa made it so I would have to leave the country as soon as I reached my destination at the school. Quick phone calls by Dani Harlimana, treasurer at the Union offices fixed up the right person to get the visa done quickly. Since he used to work in that office, the man helping me from the Adventist headquarters, had me fixed up quickly with final arrangements to be completed on Monday. A passport picture was quickly taken and fixed to the forms, and I was all set for my time in Burundi.

MARANATHA SCHOOL
I did a series on the sanctuary that involved a morning program an hour long and an evening program up to 2 hours daily. On Sabbaths, I spoke 3 times. Students really enjoyed the sanctuary symbols. A very low percentage of the 1000 had given their hearts to Jesus. Their ages were older on account of the war. They had served as soldiers and many were in their 20’s and 3o’s in this secondary school.
So many drew pictures of the sanctuary to get a Final Events DVD in French. I had more pictures than the 260 DVDS so urged them to get pictures in very early to make sure they got a DVD. I was so pleased with participation.
I fell ill and needed assistance getting to and back from meetings. I prayed for strength. As I stood to speak, there was a total freedom from the sickness. I moved about the stage in the sanctuary with energy and by only the power of God did the teachings and warnings He had sent me to do. When I completed the session and called for them to give their hearts to Jesus, I was strong until I finished and suddenly was again as weak as before and crumpled behind the curtain while helpers put away equipment and then assisted me back to bed.
OBVIOUSLY IT WAS ONLY THE POWER OF GOD that brought the highest number of decisions in the history of the school. There were 86 decisions and many more who were almost but held back by pressure from fellow classmates.
I am so excited to see God warning people as He promised the gospel would be preached in all the world and then the end will come.

BIBLE MIRACLE
For all those decisions, we needed a Bible ready to hand them on Sabbath as they came out of baptism waters. I had only 60 dollars. I prayed and asked for transport. I looked up and saw a rainbow. I knew God was working on the Bible prayer. I checked email for any Western Union money. Then I was so surprised. Students started handing me gifts of money. Four dollars or 5 dollar gifts were given. Still I did not have enough. I prayed for a discount at the Bible society and moved in faith. Knowing that God is not limited by our economic status, and knowing He wanted me to do this work of preaching the final warning and of getting these Bibles, I moved in faith.
On the way there I shared miracles with the taxi driver. He had heard my meetings when we did them in Bujumbura. Just before the stop at the Bible society he asked, “Can a Burundi man donate?”. We got all the Bibles we could with the funds and hurried back for evening meeting. During the baptism we were 7 Bibles short.
I prayed and prayed as I packed up everything after Sabbath. I was so troubled by the tears of the girls who had to wait till last to be baptized and then there were no Bibles for them. Some more handed me Burundi franks. God worked another miracle and just before getting on the plane, the 7 Bibles were prepared and placed in a basket for delivery by the business manager of the school. She herself had donated and had helped in handing Bibles during baptism. I wait to hear if each received their Bibles as planned.
God provided from –not the rich— but those willing to trust HIM with their little amount of funds.

I was lacking funds for the last portion of 58 dollars of my homeward bound ticket. I was so grateful funds were sent. But the tickets were not available for the 15th anymore. I had to settle for departing on the 14th which meant I had a 30 hour wait in Nairobi. I was very sick and wondered how I could tolerate waiting in the airport so long. (lacking nutrition and water) To go out for lodging required a visa into Kenya. Then also a taxi and guest house, and food. I was concerned. But God had a solution. The division leaders had seen the sanctuary program, seen the baptism, prayed for my health and were happy with the work done. They sent taxi and had me lodge in guest house and made sure I had food delivered to the room and taxi back to the airport in time for connections. GOD CARED FOR HIS SERVANT. I was able to rest and get some nutrition making me strong enough for the difficult 3 day trip home.
On the plane, I had a whole row of seats to spread out and sleep.
I was hoping for some fresh figs when I got home. Such an item is very difficult to find. I also wanted blue berries and persimmons. I had not digested anything for many days and these items sounded good to me. I was so surprised to find in my fruit bowl on the plane, a fresh fig. In all the years of travel, I have never seen a fresh fig among the fruits they chose to give to me.
At home, I was treated to all possible things to bring healing. I am rebuilding my strength for the next mission to the Philippines in December.
I praise God for His loving care.
I count it a privilege to be a part of the loud cry as God warns the world of the end events.
Thanks for praying for my health!!!!

Note from Jack Sample…

Dear Readers,

I apologize for the delay in sending out the following message. I was on a short trip to attend a wedding in La Grande OR and just got back.  Unfortunately I left at home my connection device for getting on the Internet while on the road.   … Jack

Dear Friends and Family
I have made it now through the Burundi border The rain helped so we did not have to go through all the bags. I had to list everything and promise it would not stay in Burundi. It was quite a challenge.
The ADRA truck had tire problems but someone stopped who had just the right tool to tighten the lugs. It was dark quickly and the road was blocked.
But the Lord has worked it so we are staying with a nice couple from England who are working the Food for the Hungry. The Adventist friend led us here after we had tried all hotels in town. It was a nice treat for me.

We were stopped by army soldiers who then after asking bribes, finally allowed us to proceed. Suddenly a drunk soldier was fighting the others and raised his gun in front of the car threatening to shoot us. We backed up and looked for lodging.  We are very safe for the night and happily set. Ann gave me a nice room with 2 beds She also gave a delicious cookie and some hot herb tea. What a blessing.
I am sure God has done even more miracles than I realize.
Yesterday I came through a forest where all the white faced “baboons” were eating along the road. I think it looks like a Colobus monkey but will check my animal encyclopedia when I get home.
I had to pay some more money to enter even though I had a visa because of its unresolved problem. I am warned by these people (Ann and Steve)  to check in Bujumbura for perhaps I only have a 3 day visa.
We will head onto the road early maybe 7:30 and go through Bujumbura and on to the Kivoga where the school is.

Dear Friends and family,
\monday  Sept, 29, 2008  Bujumbura, Burundi, AFRICA
Pray for my health and my laptop..

I have done Friday night, Sabbath and Sunday meetings. 12 have already asked for baptism and the 1000 students are very enthusiastic for the message on the tabernacle. The last meeting was set up and taken down and 80 percent of the message was delivered by my translator due to an illness after eating Broccoli in the morning,  After they took things and put them away, now the laptop is refusing to boot. I am praying for it to wake up before tonight. Someone is loaning a laptop, but it may not have power point or recognize my Lacie external hard drive w my programs.
Sunday morning I cooked broccoli which tasted so bitter. I feared to eat. Then after tasting a little, others tasted it. I remember the story of Elisha called to pray for the waters from Jericho because they were so bitter. As a doctor I always wondered if the bitterness from that water was due to the massive burial in that location.
I planned to take charcoal but got busy setting up the sanctuary. Extreme cramps and violent symptoms ensued till I could not stand up well. They begged me to go to meeting and crying and prayers ascended. I went onto the platform, spoke till I had to vomit and then told the audience Steven would tell about the colors. I had spoken to him about the possibility he would have to do the meeting. He looked terrified. He has translated 2 other crusades, why could he not at least do an introduction. I listened in the back room. I almost forgot to turn off my radio microphone that was over my ear. I heard him speaking must louder than at first and knew, The Holy Spirit was working to cover my extreme suffering. It was said that the students thought the meeting was planned the way it happened.
Now I am in Bujumbura. There is no email at the school. We are on a remote mountain. It is very beautiful with flowering trees and a huge church that is packed with 1000 students. Some are sitting at the door ,   Maybe 50 to 100 are there. There are people in school there who heard Jenny’s and my program in Buganda. They are thrilled to see me again and expect that I should recognize them. Pastor Andrew came from Buganda to greet me. There are many friends wanting to know how Jenny is doing.
I was so weak and in so much pain that they feared malaria so to make them happy, I had a lab test done here. Every time I prayed for God to wash this microbe from my body, I had heavy sweat, NVD all at the same time. I am drinking lots of charcoal, antibiotics and not hungry. Today, I felt a bit stronger so drank some water off of cooked rice and an apple. The pain in my stomach is so strong.
I asked Pastor Andrew if the bodies from the war were buried in a certain place or where ever they fell. He said  they bury them everywhere and some are not yet buried. WE bought that broccoli where the war was the heaviest last month. They proudly told me that food grown above dead bodies is even better in making vegetables and fruits and has no bad taste like that broccoli. Well, I wish I could get feed back from our health departments regarding our laws of burial and consequent documented illnesses attributed to food grown on the dead. Ron, maybe you could do some search. I can instruct these people in health matters if I knew sources to quote on such things.
I have a good hemoglobin of 15.6 and a crit o 48, \leucocytes 10,8 ; granulocytes high at 8,5 with their norm at 7.2; everything else like lymphys and monos 2.3 in the norm of 1.7 to 4,9\
I have visa now as of a few minutes ago. So I am legal and am waiting for getting back to the school.
Looks like I might need 50 Bibles if the rate of decisions keeps on as it has in these first two days. Baptism will be the last Sabbath or Tuesday before I go.
Hope all is well back home in spite of the financial news I see on internet.
Sincerely,
Your fellow co laborer in the Master’s Vineyard

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family

 Sunday, September 21 2008

Dear Family and friends,
Sabbath we had a beautiful baptism. There was so much joy in the face of Omar when he received his Bible. He held it up as though it was a trophy won in the Olympics. He carried things to my room after meeting and reminded me to pray that he could be a preacher. It was so funny to have them try to teach me new words.
His joy over following Jesus is the greatest payment I could ever have. It is all worth every bit of the agony in the travel on that ship to Bukavu. All I have gone through is nothing now. To think of all the others who also have been encouraged to go to heaven. IT is so wonderful. I have not finished the meetings. We had planned to continue till Wednesday.
This morning all was going as usual when suddenly a group of very angry people caused a big fire in front of the church and tried to do harm to the president of this mission. There was also an electrical fire at the switch breakers so I am handicapped for doing any more meetings with projector and computer. God intervened and no one lost their lives. Police and soldiers are now guarding but the meetings are closed down because of the danger of having people come to meeting. Please remember this place in your prayers and pray that I can safely move on to Burundi. I do not have any funds to move yet and I still have complications of a visa that was prepared wrong in the embassy,
Thank you for all your prayers and support,
Dr. Rose
