Bukavu Challenges - Please Pray-September 21 2008

Mission Adventures of Dr. Rose and Family

 Sunday, September 21 2008

Dear Family and friends,
Sabbath we had a beautiful baptism. There was so much joy in the face of Omar when he received his Bible. He held it up as though it was a trophy won in the Olympics. He carried things to my room after meeting and reminded me to pray that he could be a preacher. It was so funny to have them try to teach me new words.
His joy over following Jesus is the greatest payment I could ever have. It is all worth every bit of the agony in the travel on that ship to Bukavu. All I have gone through is nothing now. To think of all the others who also have been encouraged to go to heaven. IT is so wonderful. I have not finished the meetings. We had planned to continue till Wednesday.
This morning all was going as usual when suddenly a group of very angry people caused a big fire in front of the church and tried to do harm to the president of this mission. There was also an electrical fire at the switch breakers so I am handicapped for doing any more meetings with projector and computer. God intervened and no one lost their lives. Police and soldiers are now guarding but the meetings are closed down because of the danger of having people come to meeting. Please remember this place in your prayers and pray that I can safely move on to Burundi. I do not have any funds to move yet and I still have complications of a visa that was prepared wrong in the embassy,
Thank you for all your prayers and support,
Dr. Rose
